MASTERS OF PRODUCT MARKETING MESSAGING

Two of the most important product marketing principles is Messaging and Positioning (next right). Most businesses get “messaging” wrong, which is no wonder why they struggle to get their audience’s attention and generate sales. They think that if they just list all their popular and common features in a pamphlet, their customers will buy. Messaging is about telling a story that captivates your audiences either by humor, interesting information, or by emotion. To do that, however, you need positioning. (See next block.)

This course covered all the important steps creating compelling and memorable stories about a brand and its products and services. It showed me how to write better stories that evoke emotions from my target audiences. These emotions would help create greater brand/product awareness, engagement, and conversions. It’s also a powerful way to set brands apart from their competitors and help customers remember who to choose next time they’re in the market to buy.

Masters in Competitive Intelligence

According to experts, 95% of businesses fail because they don’t do their research-they don’t learn about their competitors or their customers before brining a product to market. This certification taught me all the competitive intelligence fundamentals and frameworks used by today’s analysts. The tools include market mapping, win/loss primary research, and SWOT analysis.

MASTERS OF PRODUCT MARKETING POSITIONING

Positioning is your product’s strategy. It’s how we position products in the market place so your customers will know where to find them, use them, value them, and pay for them. According to Product Marketing Alliance, “Product positioning defines what makes your product different from the others on the market so you can focus on messaging and effectively explain its value to potential customers. Positioning must always coming before messagings, AND, before you do ANYTHING else (GTM, campaigns, creative, brand story, internal training. ie) , you must have your product positioning and messaging nailed down.Businesses who don’t have both positioning and messaging solidified risk misaligning the company, customers, and the brand with conflicting messaging. Customer Research mastered Certified

Most importantly, this certification taught me how to be the voice of the customer—the expert in the organization of who the customer is, where they live, what makes them happy/sad, what products they love/hate, etc.

MASTERS IN MARKET RESESEARCH

Unlike some of the other courses, this one goes deeper into how to conduct market research . This includes both primary and secondary research. Both are needed in order to do a thorough assessment of where your product stands in the market and if there is a product market fit. The certification armed me with several tools and actionable tips for each areas of research—tools I am currently using with clients today!
